Aftershocks have continued and our children and church members are sleeping out-of-doors

First Steps

Over the last three days, $68,850 has been committed to us to help in the Nepal Earthquake crisis. Because we already have a leadership and organizational structure in place, we will be able to send 100% of these funds to Nepal. Every dollar will go directly to those who need it most.

Pastor David Sagar, who oversees our children’s home in Kathmandu, made quick decisions and purchased tarps for temporary shelters in our compound yard and in his Bhaktapur church compound. With aftershocks continuing, people are afraid to sleep in their homes and most are staying out-of-doors. We’ve been able to send emergency funds to David to help with their immediate needs.

At first light tomorrow a heavily loaded truck will leave Nepalgunj, headed to the capital. This will be our first shipment of emergency help. We are sending a team from our main church to assess the need and report back to us on how best to move forward. At this point we’re working hard to address crisis need, but as we’re better able to understand the task, we will move to more focused projects.

Thank you for acting quickly with us to get help where it’s needed most.
